Deborah Jean Stone

Deborah Jean (DJ) Stone (nee Mitchell) passed away on March 28, 2024, in Gray, Georgia, at the age of 69. She was born on August 31, 1954, in Fort Payne, Alabama.

DJ was a dedicated Registered Nurse for 40 years, showing immense care and compassion in her work. She took great pride in her profession and touched the lives of many through her service.

Outside of her career, DJ found joy in reading, crafting and sewing. Amongst that, her favorite past time was spending time with her family and friends, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Brent Stone; her children, Keisha (Scott) Harper, Israel (Andrea) Stone, Terry (Jennifer) Jones, Shanna Stone, Kris Woodcock; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers.  DJ was preceded in death by father, Ernest Eugene Mitchell; mother, Betty Jean Mitchell;  brother, Charles Mitchell; and her infant son, Patrick Wayne Jones.

DJ’s educational journey took her through Coosa High School in Rome, Georgia, and Gordon State College in Barnesville, Georgia.

A private service will be held as per the family’s request during this challenging time.
