Edwin Russell “Cosmo” Hawthorne

Edwin Russell “Cosmo” Hawthorne, 72, of Gordon, GA passed away at his home on Friday, May 24, 2024. Russell was married to Cynthia “Cindy” Marie Smith Hawthorne for 53 years. Russell is preceded in death by his mother Martha G. Warren and his father W.O. Hawthorne. Russell is survived by sons: Shane (Nikki) Hawthorne and Rusty Hawthorne; a sister: Cynthia (John) Hardy; sisters-in-law: Arlene (Ronnie) Armour, Sue (David) Crouch, and Tammy (Roger) Seckinger; a brother-in-law: William Smith; grandsons: Ethan, Grant and Watson Hawthorne; and multiple nieces and nephews. Russell worked from an early age at Engelhard until his retirement. Russell was a friend to many, and had a smile to share with all who met him. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved all things hunting and fishing. He was a longstanding member of Porter Creek Hunting Club where he shared his love of the outdoors with his sons and taught them to hunt. Services will begin with visitations at 3 p.m. and service to follow at 4 p.m. May 31, 2024, at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Gordon, GA.
