Ernest "Tad" Godwin Ellis

Ernest "Tad" Godwin Ellis passed away May 20, 2025, in Macon, Georgia.

Tad was born January 28, 1952, in Columbia, SC to parents Dr. Ernest Behling Ellis and Mary Godwin Ellis. He grew up in Miami, Florida, graduated from Miami Palmetto High School and attended Florida State University. He later moved to Macon to be near his sister Roz.

Tad was proficient in diesel mechanics, welding, electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, computer assembling and woodworking. He loved to work with his hands. Later he turned into quite the chef making all kinds of interesting meals in his kitchen. He loved dogs, especially big dogs. Tad liked to help others and enjoyed serving up one of his dinner specials.

Tad is predeceased by his parents and former wife Cherie Evans Ellis. He is survived by his his two sisters Roz Goudeau (Richard) and Evy Ellis, nephew Michael Creswell (Bess), great nephew Walker and great niece Eden, stepchildren Richie Evans, and Britann Henderson (Mike) and step grandchildren Michael-Peyton and Miranda.
