James Cleveland Vissage

SMSgt James Cleveland Vissage, 86, of Macon, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family, Monday, August 12, 2024. Memorial services will be Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 2:00PM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church at 501 Bass Road, Macon, Georgia.  The family will greet friends one hour before the service.

James was born February 17, 1938, to the late Evelyn and James Vissage in Bibb County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Vissage. James is survived by his seven children, Karen Wilford (Donny), James Vissage, Jr., Tina Bledsoe (Jack), Michael Vissage, Dacia Smith, Jody Debona (Joanne), and Crece Hare (Jimbo); his sister, Linda Thomas (David); thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

James graduated from Lanier High School and graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA with a Bachelor of Business Administration.  James went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961, then he worked at Robins Air Force Base as a civil engineer for thirty-four years, until retirement in January of 2004.

James was a devoted husband, loving father, son, papa, brother, and cancer survivor.  He enjoyed his dogs, Sam, Patches, Rosie, Blu and Layla.  Papa loved his family and his grandkids.  He loved being outdoors and working in his yard with all his plants and flowers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the American Cancer Society or the Dementia Society of America.
