Kay C. Conner, lovingly known as Minnie, age 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 24, 2026, in Gray, Georgia.
Kay was born on June 4, 1937, to Samuel and Henri Carnes of Lavonia, Georgia. She grew up on a farm and enjoyed playing in the great outdoors with her brother. She graduated from Lavonia High School in 1955, and soon after graduation, she married Jim Conner in 1956.
In her younger days, she worked as a cashier at Morgan’s Minute Market, which was owned by her husband. She then served as the cashier at Creekside Store. She loved her customers and genuinely enjoyed going to work.
Kay enjoyed reading, thrifting, and listening to Waylon Jennings. She was known for being excellent in the kitchen, with some of her favorite dishes including banana pudding, pound cake, cornbread, and homemade vegetable soup. She always made sure everyone was fed and happy.
Above all, Kay was known for being warm, caring, and completely selfless. She was strong, willful, and determined. She always saw the good in everyone and she had a great sense of humor. She will be sorely missed by her loved ones.
Kay is survived by her sister, Becky (John) Elliott; daughters, Dawn (Bobby) Manning and Tammy (Benny) Justice; her grandchildren, Amber Sryock, Jacquelyn (Abby) Manning, Samuel (McKay) Sawyer, Josh Hewett, and Jessi Hewett; great-grandchildren, Kayla McCook, Bailey Plummer, Chesney McCook, Landon Hewett, Piper (Bradley) Gamez, Kaiden Sawyer, Deakon Stubbs, Cevin Goodson, Elaine Sawyer, and Josephine Sawyer; and her great-great-granddaughter, Harlowe Gamez.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Samuel and Henri Carnes, her husband, Jim Conner, and her brother, Tommy Carnes.
Her memory will live on through those who loved her dearly.
Forever our precious Minn.
