Betty Morey Obituary

Betty J. Morey passed away peacefully the evening of Sunday, March 5, 2023, at the age of 80. She was born in the Town of Gilboa, NY to the late Daisy Kathleen Hogan-Buley and Jay Buley.  She was swept away at age of 17 by John Morey to a life of world travel, compliments of US Navy (Key West FL, Rota Spain, and Jacksonville FL).  Retiring to MacClenny FL, Athens TN and finally Perry GA.

Betty was a wonderful wife and mother who left a lasting impression on everyone who met her, especially the Grands & Great Grands. A feisty ruler of a spotless homestead, she made a mean pot of spaghetti, lasagna, and eggplant parmesan – going to miss those family meals.

Betty had 6 siblings: One sister, Bernice Mumaw.  She was predeceased by her 5 brothers,  Robert Buley, Eugene Buley, Arthur (Steve) Buley, James Buley and Gordon Buley.

Survived by her husband, John Morey; 3 children, Teresa (Richard) Woods, Sharon (Ray) Kirk and Michele Morey; 5 grandkids, Mathew (Andrea) Schutte, Melissa (Billy) Mitchem, Jason Woods, Sarah (Justin) Kirk-Brantley, and Sabrina (Tucker) Hardie; 7 great grandchildren, Gavin Mitchem, James Keck, Sophia Keck, Coleman Brantley, Jolie Schutte, Wyatt Hardie, Ethan Hardie; and countless other family members and friends.
