Doodle found peace on Monday, October 24, 2022, after many years of complicated health issues, and after being attended peacefully by members of his immediate family, who will continue to honor his memory.
He was born on May 2, 1938, in Vidalia, Georgia to James Paul Grubb and Kate Fletcher Grubb, as the youngest of four children. He is predeceased by both parents and siblings, James Paul Grubb Jr, Beverly Grubb Cason, and Robert Grubb.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Martha Monteleone Duke; children, Edward Dewey Grubb, Jr. (Kate), George Madison Grubb (Margaret), and Lee Ellen Geriner (Stuart); six grandchildren, Keli Grubb (Kaitlyn), Marshall Grubb, Stephen Grubb, James Grubb, Carlton Grubb and Clara Geriner, and one greatgrandchild, Layla Grubb; as well as two stepdaughters, Tiff Clarke (Steve), and Audra Duke (Clint).
After graduating from Vidalia High School where he lettered in several sports and enjoyed recognition as a star quarterback, Doodle graduated from Georgia Tech and co-opped with Georgia Power, where he worked his entire career as an engineering manager, retiring in 1996.
Doodle enjoyed woodworking for 50 years and built Shaker furniture for homes in Macon and Cooperstown, NY, from heart pine.
Doodle participated in many organizations in leadership positions throughout his adult life, but is best remembered for his qualities of generosity, kindness and humor. Memories of his life are filled with how Doodle made people laugh. That is his legacy.
