Glen R. Edwards Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the age of 79. Born in Macon, GA on August 27, 1943, Glen decided early on that he would be a permanent fixture in his hometown.
Glen was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife, Glenda McAfee Edwards, for 50 years. He was a proud father to Laura Edwards Pope of Locust Grove and Tripp Edwards of Macon, and a proud father-in-law to Chris Pope. Glen was also a wonderful grandfather to his two grandsons, Walker and Logan Pope, of Locust Grove. His sister, Nancy Dow, resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband, David.
Glen was an U.S. Army veteran, serving his country with honor and distinction in the mid 1960’s to the early 1970’s. His military service was a significant part of his life, shaping his character and instilling in him a deep sense of duty and honor.
After his military service, Glen returned to Macon, where he owned and operated several successful businesses over the years. His entrepreneurial spirit was a testament to his hard work, dedication, and commitment to his community.
In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Glen found a passion for dune buggies and participated in off-road racing in the Southeast. He was a member of many Off-road Associations and through these he met many people whom he considered life-long friends.
Glen R. Edwards, Jr. was a man who lived life on his own terms, and always had a funny story or joke to make people laugh. His laughter will echo in our hearts and his generosity will never be forgotten. His journey may have ended, but his legacy will live on.
