Irene G. Cook, 95, of Macon, died Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Mrs. Cook was born on June 2, 1926, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Emmons and Laura Grahn. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Cook graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, where she majored in photography. Upon graduation, she worked for Erwin Blumenfeld, a world-renowned photographer in New York City. After marrying William V. Cook in 1950, they lived in New York and New Jersey, until they moved to Macon, GA in 1969.
In 1972, she and her husband established a bookkeeping and tax preparation business that she operated until 2015. She was an avid golfer, loved attending the Masters Golf Tournament, and was active in the Women’s Golf Association at Idle Hour Country Club, serving as treasurer for the association for decades. She loved the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. She volunteered at Christ Church for Meals on Wheels and served on several charitable boards.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William Cook; her sister Marjorie Winter, and her brother Robert Grahn.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her sister Elaine TenEyck; her children, Christine Reppert, Diane Franklin (David), and Timothy Cook; grandchildren, Courtney Leverette (Jay), Ian Reppert, Scott Reppert, Matthew Franklin, Bradford Franklin (Gloria) and Christopher Franklin (Jenny); four great-grandchildren and her cousin Joyce Crenshaw.
