Johnnie Stokes Obituary

Johnnie William Stokes, affectionately known as “Boomer” to his softball teammates, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Will was born in Fort Gordon, GA, August 9, 1955.  He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and he had a passion for playing softball, coaching, and umpiring games.  But what he loved most was the love of his life, Kimberly Stokes, and his children, Hannah and Jordan.  He loved his family and friends, and he would drop everything to help if needed.

Will was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Imogene Stokes.  He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Kimberly Turbeville Stokes; children, Hannah and Jordan; siblings, Sandra (Ron) Rugar, Susan Brooks, Sheila (Rufus) Faulk; Debra (Melvin) Benton; and Paul (Heather) Stokes; aunts, Jean Barker and Wylene (Bobby) Bennett; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on February 20, 2021 at 2:00 at Faith Baptist Church 4704 Jeffersonville Rd Macon, GA 31217. We invite his family and friends, especially his former teammates, to come speak and tell his family stories about Will at the memorial service.
