Lillian Valborg Marcus, 91, of Macon, Georgia died peacefully on August 26, 2020 surrounded by her family. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Beth Yeshua International in Macon, Georgia. Covid precautions will be in place. You may also view the service at bethyeshuainternational.org and go to live stream. Burial will be private at the Andersonville Veterans Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.
Llillian’s parents, the late Ferdinand Olaf Schutz and Boletta Valborg Schutz immigrated from Copenhagen, Denmark to New York City. Lillian was born and raised in Flushing, New York.
Lillian was educated at the Payne Hall School in new York City. She went on to become a medical technologist at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. After moving to Albany, Ga., she continued her career and retired from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Lillian was a loving mother to her children. She was passionate in her Christian faith, and she loved to minister to all in need. She was a longtime member of Beth Yeshua International. She was an avid artist and gardener. She had many friends throughout her lifetime, was loved by all who new her, and was quite the social butterfly. She never wanted to miss a party, and she is now enjoying the best celebration of all, eternal life with Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Anne McGinnis, her brother Erik Olaf Schutz, her husband John F. McGinnis, and her second husband Edward D. Marcus (Ted).
She is survived by her loving children Neil McGinnis (Maureen), of Monterey, Massachusetts, James McGinnis (Terri), of Atlanta, Georgia, Patti McGinnis of Macon, Georgia and Nancy Dozier (Richard Douglas), of Macon, Georgia. Lillian was also a loving influence in the lives of her step children: Dana Marcus (Paula), Sue Spadaccini (Pete), and Scott Marcus (Gennie).
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Schutz , nephew Erik, and nieces, Tina, Suzanne and Erin. Lillian was thrilled to recently enjoy a reunion with her six nephews and their families; Don Sparaco, Bobby Sparaco, Joe Sparaco, John Sparaco, Richard Sparaco, and Mike Sparaco.
She adored all of her grandchildren: Katherine McGinnis (Corey Bowman) and Brian McGinnis, Ben Tate( Fontaine) , Walt McGinnis ( Chelsea), and Joe McGinnis, Nathan Bateman (Amy), Connor Bateman (Alexis) and Erik Bateman, Trey Dozier ( Chelsea) and Dahl Hartley ( Lee). Lillian was blessed to enjoy nine great grandchildren: Hannah, Jude, Joy, Hope, Grace, Woody, Fisher and newborn twins Cameron and Wyatt.
